Drink-driving truckie loses licence

User Rating: / 0

A 54-year-old Carnamah man has had his licence suspended for driving a road train while more than three times over the legal alcohol limit.

Police stopped the semi-trailer near Cue late last month and breathalysed the driver, Rex McNeill, after receiving reports that he was driving his two-trailer truck erratically.

McNeill gave a blood alcohol reading of 0.19.

Officers say McNeill was so intoxicated he almost fell from his vehicle when he was stepping to the ground.

McNeill pleaded guilty in the Cue Magistrates Court to driving under the influence.

His licence was suspended for 36 months and was he was fined $2,000.

Police say it is lucky no-one was seriously injured or killed as a result of McNeill's driving.
